\ Changing App Associations
Without Power Drawers, it is complicated to change
the application associated with a file type and not possible to associate
multiple apps with a file type. Power Drawers makes both of these tasks direct,
fast, and easy. Associating multiple apps with a file type is essential for
anyone who has multiple programs that open the same files such as artists who have 5
different apps that can open graphics files.

Changing
Default App for a File Type
Right-click on
a file and select the Options.. item to open it's Options Dialog where you can quickly change the Default App for all files of that type.
This is much simpler than trying to do this without Power Drawers. You can change the characteristics
of how it gets opened with the Change and Edit
buttons. Take special care with this feature because you can set any program
to be the Default App for any file type.
Associate
Multiple Apps with a File Type
A file's
Options Dialog also lets you define Other Apps that
can open the specified file type. This feature makes it easy to open files with
different editors at different times. For example, graphics files are associated by
default with the Paint application, but sometimes you might want to open them
in PhotoShop, Image Composer, Paint Shop Pro or other graphics apps. When you’re looking
at the document (either in Explorer or in a Power Drawers menu), it make sense to
go from the document to the app you wish to use, but Explorer does not allow you
to associate more than one app with a document type. With Power Drawers, you
could associate all the apps that can open graphics files with .bmp files. Then if
you right-click on any bitmap file, all the apps that can open it are shown as
options, saving a lot of drudgery and wasted time compared with trying to open
the file in a specified app some other way. Just choose
an app and the file opens in that app.
This feature is particularly useful for
users who have many applications that deal with the same file type, such as
writers who have many apps for editing documents, graphic artists with many apps for editing graphics or web designers who
check their web files in several web browsers.
