Power Drawers
allows you to set a custom view for any file folder so that you can see what you
want in the sorted order that makes sense to you. To set a folder’s view
options, first open the Options Dialog for that folder.
Unlike Windows Explorer, Power Drawers stores view settings in an object-oriented
way with each folder so that any number of folders can each have a unique view.
Any number of users can have unique view and sort settings for any number of
folders, whether they are local folders on the current computer or shared
folders on network servers. The Sort
Order gives you the options of having items sorted alphabetically A->Z
or Z->A or sorted by date, with or
without the date added to the menu item. If you choose New->Old (show date), then the date is appended to the name of
files in the menu so you can more easily compare dates and times between various
items on the menu. The date is shown using the global date format setting on the
Power Drawers General configuration tab. You can also choose to exclude System
and Hidden Files from view for a folder. By excluding files you're not
interested in, it's easier to find files that you do want. See VirtuaFolders
for more detail. See Customizing Folders and the
Desktop for more Folder Customization options.
Alphabetic A->Z sorting is the default, but sorting the view by date can be
very useful in some cases. For example, a law office might wish to keep client
files in subfolders sorted by date since that is how they sort paper files, but
still keep other folders sorted alphabetically.
