\ Quick Launch Bar
A
quick way to access files and folders is through the optional Windows Quick
Launch bar. The Quick Launch bar is part of Windows usually located on the
system taskbar. It contains shortcuts to files or folders you want quick access
to. The Quick Launch bar is always included in Windows 98, Windows Me or Windows
2000. It is also available on Windows 95 and NT 4.0 if Internet Explorer 4.0 is
installed with shell integration.
If your version of Windows has a Quick Launch bar, then Power Drawers
automatically puts shortcuts to its desktop folders on the Quick Launch bar.
Then you can simply right-click on a folder icon on the Quick Launch bar to
access anything in that folder. Power Drawers lets you quickly navigate any
folder or drive shortcut you put on the Quick Launch bar. Feel free to add or
remove items on the Quick Launch bar as you wish. Another way to access anything
on your desktop or in desktop folders is the Start Button Desktop Menu. See
Start Button Desktop Menu for details.
Customizing the Quick Launch Bar
Although the Quick Launch bar is normally a part of the system taskbar, you can
choose to drag it off the taskbar. You can drag it to the top or sides of the
screen to make it a docking bar (similar to the system taskbar) or you can drag
it onto the screen as a floating toolbar. To drag the Quick Launch bar, grab the
indented handle at the left side of the bar.
You can change the way items are displayed on the Quick Launch bar. Right-click
on handle at the left side of the Quick Launch bar for a menu of options. Here
are some interesting options you can customize:
1) You can resize it to any size you wish.
2) You can set the View for large or small icons.
3) You can set it to show a text label beside (or underneath) each icon.
4) Just like the system taskbar, you can also set it to be Always on Top and to
Auto-Hide. If you dock it to one side or the top of the screen, this allows it
to appear only when you move the mouse to that edge of the screen.
The screenshot below shows how the Quick Launch bar would look as a floating bar
or if docked to the top of the screen.
