Organizer didn't auto-classify some of the apps I have installed. |
PowerOrganizer's
ability to auto-classify most applications makes it uniquely powerful and easy
to use. Although PowerOrganizer
has a knowledge-base of tens of thousands of applications that it can auto-classify,
it doesn't know about every application that exists. There are also new apps being created all the time. Therefore, PowerOrganizer may find some applications
that it doesn't know how to classify.
PowerOrganizer as a tool to organize access to apps and
data that allows manual classification as well as auto-classifying thousands of
apps. Other organization tools require you to manually classify all
of your applications. Since that's a long and boring process, we included
auto-classification into PowerOrganizer. If PowerOrganizer puts 80-90% of your
apps in appropriate categories, then there is very little left for you to
manually classify.
Any apps that remain
unclassified will be left on your "Items to Classify" list in
PowerOrganizer. For unclassified apps, you have the option to classify them
manually, remove them so they don't need to be classified or you can send us the
information file shortcuts.txt so that we can add those applications to
PowerOrganizer's knowledge base. To classify items manually, select an item on
the "Items to Classify" list, then select a folder or subfolder from
the "Desktop" list and use the >> button to move the item into
the specified folder. To remove an item instead of classifying it, select it in
the "Items to Classify" list and click the Remove button.
Any time PowerOrganizer finds new applications that it doesn't know how to
classify, you will be prompted to send us the shortcuts.txt information
file, stored in the Power Drawers folder (C:\Program Files\Powerdrawers by
default). When users send us such information, we use it to increase
PowerOrganizer's knowledge base so it can auto-classify more apps. Then we post
an update to PowerOrganizer with the new information.
PowerOrganizer is frequently updated with information sent by users. To get an
updated PowerOrganizer, right click on the Power Drawers taskbar icon, open Power Drawers on the web and select
Check for Updates
menu item. Install any new updates and then run Organizer again ("Desktop
PowerOrganizer" item on taskbar icon's menu). Click the Auto>> button to auto-classify. You can also set Power Drawers
to automatically get and install updates as well as automatically run Organizer
at set intervals. See Using the Updater for
details.
See PowerOrganizer in the Online Manual for
more details on automatically classifying items.
